TALE OF THE THREE JEWELS

Yussef is a twelve-year-old Palestinian boy growing up during the First Intifada. With his father in prison and his brother wanted by the Israeli army he lives with his mother and sister in a refugee camp in Gaza. Seeking escape from the violence surrounding him Yussef retreats into his imagination and the countryside. One day he falls in love with Aida a young girl who leads a group of children. To marry her he must find three missing jewels from a family necklace brought from South America by her grandfather. His quest becomes a modern fairy tale interwoven with the harsh realities of life under occupation and a child’s determination to hold on to hope and the freedom to dream.
