DJOMEH
iran france 2000 94 min
Djomeh is a young Afghan man who works on a dairy farm in the Iranian countryside. Each morning he accompanies Mahmoud the farm owner on his rounds to collect milk from nearby villages. Unlike Habib an older Afghan co-worker Djomeh remains open and hopeful despite the suspicion and prejudice he encounters. When he falls in love with a local shopkeeper’s daughter he asks Mahmoud to help him approach her family. His desire to build a life in Iran brings him face to face with the social barriers and discrimination that stand in the way of his hopes.
