Famous Iranian actress Behnaz Jafari receives a disturbing video message from Marziyeh, a young girl who desperately asks for help to escape her conservative family and pursue her dream of studying acting in Tehran. Unsure whether the video is genuine or staged, Behnaz turns to filmmaker Jafar Panahi for help. The two travel by car to the girl’s remote mountain village in northwestern Iran, where they encounter a community governed by deeply rooted traditions. As they search for Marziyeh, three generations of actresses and women emerge, revealing different experiences of artistic ambition, social restrictions and the struggle for freedom.
